In 1974, two ex-employees of a well-known manufacturer of heavy machine tools founded the company R&D Steuerungstechnik GmbH.

The original aim of the business was the production of so-called "NC control units for manual operation of machine tools". Nowadays, these CNC control units are known as "cycle control units" and successfully merchandised as the third generation of control units.

Mid of the 80s, the following business segments were added:

§  Automation und modernisation of machine tools, e. g. vertical boring and turning mills,
   center lathes, boring machines and portal milling machines

§  Design of user-specific control and electronic products

§  Electronic manufacturing for other companies

Since mid of the 90s, R&D is Siemens engineering partner of the 840D user interfaces
„ManualTurn”, „ShopTurn” and „ShopMill”.

Due to a considerable expansion of electronic manufacturing R&D Elektronik GmbH
was founded in 2007.

R&D is certified acc. to ISO 9001:2008 and bound to continuously improve quality 
of products and services as well as to keep high reliability.
